Jim's Bio:

Jim grew up in Northeast Ohio, browsing the halls of the Cleveland Museum of Art.  He was especially influenced by the local collection of surrealist works by Salvador Dali, which have since been moved to The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida.  These early connections to art had a lasting effect on the work that he produces, even today.  Jim continued his art studies and in 1979 he graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio.  For the past thirty years, Jim has been living and working in North Carolina.   He is a Recovery Coach at the CooperRiis Healing Farm in Millspring and works in his home studio every chance he gets.

Through different media, Jim produces works that exhibit true creativity and craftsmanship.  His paintings, collages, furniture and sculpture, both interior and exterior, all tie to common themes of spirituality, transition and dreams.   Each of his pieces are rich in form, texture and detail, while still allowing the authentic nature of the materials to shine through.

Jim's award winning work has been shown in numerous galleries throughout the country.  Some of Jim's most recent accomplishments include the following.  In 2011, Jim was commissioned to create a piece, which he titled "Bulls Eye", for the ArtCycle event in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Also in 2011, his "Transitions" sculpture was selected to be featured as part of the Sculpture Walk V in Kingsport, Tennessee.  In 2013, Jim was commissioned to create a "one-of-a-kind" bench to be dedicated to Ms. Darla Moore, the founder of Moore Farms Botanical Gardens in Lake City, South Carolina.  See installation photos here. He is active in the local art scene and is featured as one of the Gallery Artists in the Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild.
